Businessman and Advisor: The Conflicts of Interest
Washington DC, USAFriday, March 21, 2025
The defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, tried to set the record straight. He said Musk was there to talk about making the government more efficient and innovative. He insisted there were no secret war plans involved. But not everyone was convinced. Some people thought the whole thing was a setup to make Musk look bad.
Musk has been a key adviser to Trump, and he's been making big changes in the government. He's cut jobs and budgets left and right. But so far, he hasn't done much in the defense department. That's probably because the Pentagon is a big, complicated place. And Musk's business interests in China could make things even more complicated.
It's clear that Musk's visit to the Pentagon raised more questions than it answered. Some people think he's just trying to help the government run better. Others think he's got a hidden agenda. Either way, it's a good reminder that when business and government mix, things can get messy.
