Cannabis During Pregnancy: The Childhood Impact
Columbus, OH, USAMonday, October 28, 2024
The study looked at lots of kids and their behaviors. They used various tests to check how well kids could control their impulses, pay attention, solve problems, and manage their emotions. Kids who were exposed to cannabis before birth had a harder time with these skills, and they were more aggressive in a play setting.
Dr. Sarah Keim, who led the study, said the results aren't surprising. They add to what we already know and show that cannabis can have serious effects on kids, especially with today's stronger versions. Both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists warn against using cannabis while pregnant because of the risks to both moms and kids.
So, what do you think? Should cannabis be off-limits during pregnancy? What are some safer alternatives you've heard of?
