Celebrating LGBTQ Latine Excellence

In the heart of Los Angeles, a special night unfolded, spotlighting the achievements of LGBTQ Latine leaders. This gathering, known as Latine Honors, took place at the renowned Grandmaster Recorders. It served as a prelude to the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, which will be streamed on Hulu on April 12. The event was a vibrant mix of entertainment, advocacy, and journalism, all rolled into one. The evening was made lively by standup comic Roz Hernandez, who took on the role of host. Adding to the excitement was a thrilling live performance by drag sensation Salina EsTitties. The show was sponsored by Hyundai Motor America, adding a touch of glamour to the proceedings. Before the main event kicked off, the ABC7 Community team chatted with various honorees, performers, and attendees on the red carpet, capturing the buzz and anticipation. The significance of this event was highlighted by GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. She emphasized the importance of recognizing Spanish-language contributions, noting that this program has been a part of GLAAD's mission for two decades. The Spanish-Language Special Recognition Awards were presented to "The Q Agenda" from LatiNation and "La Verdrag" from Canal Once. These awards acknowledged their outstanding efforts in promoting queer Latine visibility in entertainment and news media. This was the first time such honors were given out before the main GLAAD Media Awards ceremony.

The night was graced by a star-studded lineup of special guests, including David Archuleta, Jonathan Burke, Kirstie Diaz, and many more. The red carpet also offered a sneak peek of David Archuleta's latest single, "Crème Brulée, " adding an extra layer of excitement for music lovers. Latine Honors was meticulously created and produced by GLAAD's Spanish-Language & Latine Media team, part of the GLAAD Media Institute. The event was made possible by several sponsors, including Hornitos Tequila, Hyundai Motor America, Gilead Sciences, Inc. , Smirnoff, and Delta Air Lines. GLAAD, as the world's largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, continues to champion diversity and inclusion in media.
