Celebrity Fandom, Food Habits and Self‑Control: A Gender Study
ChinaThursday, June 18, 2026
For boys, the picture is a bit different. When boys admire stars more, they also want to be famous themselves. That desire for fame weakens their self‑control and pushes them toward binge eating. Thus, boys’ overeating is partly a chain: idol love → fame craving → less self‑control → more binge eating.
The research highlights that both the wish for fame and personal restraint are key steps between celebrity worship and overeating. It also points out that these steps play out differently for boys and girls, suggesting that interventions should consider gender when addressing teen eating problems.
