Celebrity Homes Under Siege
Los Angeles, USAWednesday, February 19, 2025
The trend of celebrity home burglaries isn't new. Just a few days before the Kidman and Urban incident, the Southern California home of French soccer star Olivier Giroud was hit. Thieves took a lot of jewelry and other valuable items.
These incidents are part of a larger pattern. South American crews have been targeting high-end homes across the country. This year alone, arrests related to these crews have been made in Ohio and New York City. In December, the home of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was burglarized while he was playing a game in Texas. Three men from Chile were indicted for that crime.
The NFL and NBA have taken notice. In November, they sent out warnings to players about these break-ins, some of which happened while the players were away for games.
It's a troubling trend, and it's not just about the loss of property. It's about the invasion of privacy and the sense of security that these celebrities, like anyone else, deserve in their own homes. The question remains: are these incidents connected, and if so, how? The investigation continues, and authorities are working to piece together the puzzle.
