Charli XCX’s New Album Mixes Music, Fashion and Film
London, United KingdomTuesday, June 2, 2026
Charli XCX is set to release a fresh collection of songs on July 24. The project, titled Music, Fashion, Film, promises a short run of eleven tracks that together last just over half an hour.
Cover Art Highlights Iconic Figures
Her Instagram post features cover art that spotlights three famous figures:
- John Cale – music
- Marc Jacobs – fashion
- Martin Scorsese – film
Tracks Already Released
Two tracks have already been shared:
- “Rock Music” – a departure from her usual electronic pop toward a rock‑style sound, featuring heavy guitar riffs and the line “the dance floor is dead.” Critics and listeners had mixed feelings about this shift.
- “SS26” – a hint at the upcoming Spring‑Summer 2026 season, accompanied by a video where Charli walks an X‑shaped runway, singing about walking toward danger.
In an interview, she explained that creating another dance‑focused album would feel “really hard” and “sad.” She also clarified that she never intended to produce a full rock album.
Other Projects in 2024
- Soundtrack: Wuthering Heights (released February) for the film of the same name.
- Acting & Producing: Played a fictional version of herself in the mockumentary The Moment, praised for blending music and meme culture.
- Film Appearances: Recently appeared in a remake of Faces of Death and will join the casts of two upcoming films:
- An erotic comedy by Gregg Araki
- A thriller about art by Cathy Yan
Stay tuned for more updates as Charli XCX continues to expand her artistic horizons.
