Checking In: Which States are the Healthiest and the Unhealthiest?
USAWednesday, November 27, 2024
LookMeds, a company specializing in weight loss, ranked the states. Alabama comes in second, with high rates of obesity and diabetes, though not as severe as Mississippi. Louisiana is third. West Virginia has the highest obesity and diabetes rates but performs slightly better on heart disease and stroke.
On the opposite end, Colorado is the healthiest state. Only 24. 9% of residents are obese, diabetes rates are the lowest at 6. 9%, and heart disease and stroke deaths are also low. Other healthy states include Massachusetts, Vermont, Hawaii, and Minnesota.
But why do some states fare better than others? It might be due to lifestyle, access to healthcare, or maybe even the food culture. Understanding these differences can help us find ways to improve health nationwide.
