Chiefs' Defense Wins the Day in 28-18 Victory Over Injury-Plagued 49ers

The Kansas City Chiefs pulled off a convincing 28-18 win against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, thanks to a dominant defensive performance. The 49ers struggled with injuries and turnovers, which made it tough for them to keep up with the Chiefs. Kansas City stayed perfect at 6-0, while San Francisco dropped to 3-4. The 49ers were missing key players like running back Christian McCaffrey and receiver Jauan Jennings. Receiver Deebo Samuel also got sick before the game, and another receiver, Brandon Aiyuk, got hurt in the first half. The 49ers couldn't score much in the red zone, converting only 2 out of 4 times, and they were only 2 for 11 on third downs.

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy had a rough day. He threw three interceptions, took six hits, and got sacked by George Karlaftis. Chiefs defenders Chris Roland-Wallace, Justin Reid, and Jaden Hicks each made an interception. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn't have a spectacular day either, but he had a standout play with a 33-yard scramble to the San Francisco 4-yard line. He fooled defenders with a pump fake and a fake pitch. Four plays later, on fourth down, Mahomes scored on a 1-yard scramble up the middle. His passer rating was 44. 4, close to his rushing yards of 39. Mahomes completed 16 out of 27 passes for 124 yards with two interceptions. Running back Kareem Hunt carried the ball 22 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
