Childhood Vaccines: A Global Slowdown and Pakistan's Struggle
PakistanWednesday, June 25, 2025
The COVID-19 pandemic made things worse. It disrupted vaccination programs worldwide, leading to a sharp drop in coverage. This means more kids are now vulnerable to diseases that could have been prevented. The pandemic also spread misinformation, making it harder to convince parents to vaccinate their children.
The goals set for 2030 are looking out of reach. To meet them, the world needs to make some serious changes. This includes tackling misinformation, improving healthcare systems, and making sure vaccines reach every child, no matter where they live.
But it's not all doom and gloom. There are efforts being made. For example, UNICEF recently gave Pakistan refrigerated trucks to help with vaccine storage and distribution. This is a step in the right direction, but much more needs to be done.
The world needs to wake up and take action. Vaccines save lives, and every child deserves protection. It's time to make that a reality.
