China Lines Up New Defense Gear for Iran
China Prepares to Dispatch New Air‑Defense Weapons to Iran
The United States reports that China is preparing to send new air‑defense weapons—specifically shoulder‑mounted anti‑air missiles, known as MANPADs—to Iran in the near future. According to three insiders, the shipment will be routed through other countries to conceal its origin.
The U. S. State Department, the White House and China’s embassy in Washington have not yet replied to requests for comments.
These MANPADs can be fired from the shoulder, posing a serious threat to aircraft. The intelligence community is monitoring the situation closely, as any new armaments could shift regional power dynamics.
Meanwhile, U. S. officials and Iranian leaders are scheduled to meet in Islamabad, Pakistan, this Saturday. The talks aim to halt the ongoing conflict that has persisted for six weeks.
