China’s authorities have tried a similar approach, offering an email address for people to report crimes committed by Taiwan supporters. The new channel is blocked in China, but many Chinese use VPNs to reach other restricted sites. Taiwan says it follows the example of countries like the United States, Britain and Israel in opening such channels.
