Chronic Pain in Kids: A Hidden Crisis
New York, USAMonday, October 7, 2024
There's a big disconnect between what we know works for adults and what we do for kids. Medication-free therapies like mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy can really make a difference, but many doctors haven't been trained in these methods. It's not fair that kids are left to struggle with pain when there are treatments out there that could help.
We need more education for doctors and better access to these therapies, especially in rural areas where resources are scarce. Insurance companies should step up and cover these services too. Every kid deserves a shot at living a life free from chronic pain.
