Cincinnati Welcomes Francona: A New Manager's Journey
Friday, October 4, 2024
Francona has had a long career with many wins, but it hasn't always been easy. His start in Philadelphia didn't go well, and he even had trouble with fans. But things changed when he joined the Red Sox. In his first season, he led them to win the World Series, ending an 86-year drought for the team.
After leaving Boston, Francona took a year off before going to Cleveland, where his dad used to play. He stayed there for 11 seasons and took the team to the playoffs seven times. Although they lost the World Series in 2016, Francona became very popular in Cleveland.
Now, he's starting a new chapter with the Reds. It won't be easy to fill his old role in Cleveland, but the Guardians have been doing well under their new manager, Stephen Vogt. They're even playing against the Detroit Tigers this Saturday.
