City Water Park to Reboot: A New Splash Ahead
The city of San Jose has announced that the 23‑acre water park adjacent to Lake Cunningham will close for an indefinite period.
A new operator, Lakeside Partners, is slated to upgrade the facility with newer slides and interactive play areas. The exact duration of the break remains unknown, but officials plan to reopen it by next summer.
“For over forty years this park has been a place where families escape the heat,” said the mayor. “Even though it will be shut for now, the city promises to make it a top‑tier aquatic spot that future generations will love.”
What’s Happening While It’s Closed?
- Lake Cunningham Regional Park (50 acres) stays open.
Action Sports Park: California’s largest skateboarding and biking complex remains available.
A council member, a lifelong park fan, expressed sadness at the temporary closure but excitement for the modern redesign. He also announced upcoming community events to keep the area vibrant.
