Clearing past mistakes: Free help to remove old criminal records in Dallas
For a decade, Dallas County has been giving residents a lifeline—the Expunction Expo, a free event designed to erase old criminal records and help people reclaim their future. This isn’t just paperwork; it’s a fresh start for those burdened by past mistakes.
Clearing a record can unlock new opportunities—better jobs, stable housing, and even a shot at higher education. But not everyone will qualify. Those with final convictions, probation, or deferred sentences won’t be eligible. Even minor cases, like misdemeanors or Class C offenses, can disqualify applicants unless they pursue the expunction pool instead.
How to Apply:
- When: Applications open July 8 at 8 AM and close July 9 at 5 PM.
- Where: Submit online at dallascounty.org/expunction.
- No Internet? Free access is available at three city locations:
- A church on Hampton Road
- A human services office on Kiest Boulevard
- An office on Westmoreland Road (linked to a well-known foundation).
What to Bring:
- ID
- Birth date
- Social Security number
- Case details
After submitting, applicants will receive a response by the end of August. It’s a simple step with life-changing potential.
Dallas County isn’t just clearing records—it’s rebuilding futures.
