Chaotic Afternoon Unfolds Near Walton Avenue

A security guard at a Bronx urgent-care clinic suffered severe injuries on April 14 after being attacked by two individuals during a late-afternoon altercation.

Guard Intervenes in Fight, Suffers Brutal Retaliation

Around 2:30 p.m., the guard attempted to break up a dispute between the suspects. Instead of de-escalating, the situation escalated violently.

  • Stabbing with an Unknown Blade – One assailant inflicted a serious wound on the guard.
  • Pepper Spray, Punches, and Kicks – The second attacker sprayed the victim in the face before delivering multiple blows to his head.

When police arrived, they found the guard alive but injured. He was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he received treatment and was later stabilized.

The attackers later turned themselves in at the 44th Precinct, where they now face charges including assault and weapons offenses.

Two Suspects, Two Different Backgrounds

  1. Chelese Bell (46)

    • No prior NYC arrests
    • Pleaded not guilty
    • Granted low bail, released without payment
  2. Kevin Bell (45)

    • Nine prior arrests, primarily drug-related
    • Scheduled for arraignment next week

Investigation Reveals Clinic Altercation

Authorities believe the suspects had already fought inside the clinic before the guard intervened, leading to the violent confrontation.

Police released mugshots of the suspects one day after their surrender.
