Clinic Staff on Extreme Weather and Climate Change

Extreme weather events are posing serious challenges to frontline clinics, raising questions about their preparedness. A recent survey of 284 clinic staff across the nation revealed that a majority (80. 2%) believe humans are driving climate change. Interestingly, almost half (45. 9%) of them are worried that extreme weather could affect their jobs. The survey also highlighted some roadblocks to being ready for these events, such as lack of funds, knowledge, and resources.

Surprisingly, only about 41. 8% of respondents have taken concrete steps to shield their clinics from extreme weather. This includes measures like ensuring power supply and improving ventilation. Some clinics are clearly more proactive than others when it comes to climate resilience. The survey offers a snapshot of how clinic staff are thinking about climate change and extreme weather. It's essential to consider that while many are aware of the problem, not all are taking action. This gap could be due to various reasons, including limited resources and understanding.
