The study, published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, analyzed data from over 360,000 people in the UK Biobank and found that moderate coffee consumption was associated with a reduced risk of developing cardiometabolic multimorbidity. Specifically, those who drank one to three cups of coffee a day had a 48.1% lower risk of developing the condition compared to those who didn't drink or drank less than one cup.
But what's behind coffee's potential health benefits? It's not just the caffeine, experts say. While caffeine may play a role, the antioxidants and other compounds present in coffee may also be contributing to its protective effects.
