Colfax Star Caleb Lustig Shines on Courts and Fields
Caleb Lustig, a key player for Colfax’s boys basketball squad, stepped up in the state tournament and grabbed an astonishing 52 rebounds—breaking the previous record of 44. His effort earned him the MVP title as his team secured the championship.
A Semifinal Show‑Stopper
In a standout semifinal game against Okanogan, Lustig collected 24 rebounds and scored 12 points, a double‑double that highlighted his dominance on the floor. That performance drew attention from local media and led to him receiving a weekly athletic award.
Beyond the Basketball Court
Lustig is not only a basketball talent. He also excels in football, aiming to play tight end or defensive end at the college level. This spring he joined the varsity golf team, starting his season with a league meet at Bryden Canyon.
“I just love playing sports and being with my friends,” he says.
He believes that the camaraderie fuels his drive across all games.
Looking Ahead
Looking toward his senior year, Lustig wants to elevate the team after many strong teammates graduate. He hopes Colfax will return to state basketball glory and push forward in football districts, ambitions he feels have been stalled for years.
