This setup let teams like Arizona State and Boise State jump up the CFP rankings by winning their conferences. But neither they nor Clemson, who got the No. 12 seed, could win a playoff game. Even Oregon and Georgia, who were seeded higher, didn't win their quarterfinal games. With all conference champs losing big except for Arizona State, folks are wondering if this format will last.
