Community Expo Turns Into a Family‑Friendly Hub

Hampden, MaineSunday, April 5, 2026

The RSU 22 Education Foundation turned its March 21 event into a vibrant blend of education, entertainment, and neighborhood bonding. Over 300 attendees gathered at Hampden Academy for a day that showcased local businesses, nonprofits, and civic groups through engaging booths.

Wellness Zone

A dedicated wellness area offered:

  • CPR lessons
  • “Stop the Bleed” demonstrations
  • Seatbelt safety talks

Families flocked to acquire practical skills, while a partnership with Hampden Public Safety set a welcoming tone at the entrance.

Kid‑Friendly Carnival

RSU 22 students and school teams ran a carnival featuring:

  • Interactive games
  • Prizes for winners

The activities served dual purposes: they entertained children and provided students with leadership practice.

Dual Objectives

The Foundation’s goals were twofold:

  1. Raise funds for teacher mini‑grants
  2. Strengthen neighborhood ties

By merging business networking, health education, and family fun, the expo became a hub for connection, learning, and community pride.

Behind the Scenes

A dedicated volunteer crew brought the vision to life. Key sponsors—including H. O. Bouchard, Bangor Daily News, and Pulse Marketing—supplied essential resources. The Foundation also expressed gratitude to repeat vendors returning after 2024, whose continued support added energy and continuity.

Proceeds

All proceeds—exceeding $8,100—will fund mini‑grants that empower teachers to introduce fresh ideas and resources into RSU 22 classrooms.
