Comparing Two Bone Regrowth Membranes: Which One Works Better?
Sunday, January 5, 2025
Guess what? Both membranes worked pretty well. The GT/PLA group had an average bone loss of about 148 cubic millimeters, while the Guidor® group had around 185 cubic millimeters. The new bone formed was about 75% effective with GT/PLA and 56% with Guidor®, but these differences weren't big enough to matter. Other factors like how the skin healed, if the membrane showed up under the skin, and if there were infections, were also similar between the groups.
So, what's the takeaway? Both membranes were good at helping bone grow back after a tooth loss, with neither being noticeably better than the other in this study.
