Construction of Quarry Sports Complex Begins Soon

POST FALLS, IDAHO, USASaturday, April 25, 2026

The city’s long‑planned sports complex will finally start building this spring after council approval. A single contractor, LaRiviere, Inc., won the bid, and the project will be funded mainly by a $1.25 million grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund plus $4 million in park impact fees.

First Phase Highlights

  • Two multi‑use fields
  • Restroom and shelter
  • Large parking lot
  • Entry plaza
  • Maintenance yard

The grant is the largest of its kind ever awarded to the city, officially given in November. Work already underway includes major grading, paving along Cecil Road and an irrigation well.

Future Vision

A fully synthetic baseball field that meets ADA standards is planned for later stages, but the first stage is expected to finish by December.

Council Insights

  • Only one bid came in, raising questions about why other firms did not apply.
  • About 40 people attended a bidding information session; many contractors had other projects that conflicted with the construction timeline.
  • The council’s chief suggested it was largely a timing issue.

Construction is set to start in May, and the community will soon see new sports facilities that could boost local recreation.
