Court Delays Trump's Case Against DA Willis
Washington, DC, USATuesday, November 19, 2024
Meanwhile, other cases against Trump are also in limbo. A New York state judge delayed ruling on Trump's hush money case until Tuesday. The Manhattan DA's office requested this delay to assess how Trump's election win impacts the case. The U. S. Department of Justice is expected to drop two other criminal cases against Trump due to his election.
One case, in Washington D. C. , involves Trump's efforts to overturn Biden's 2020 election win. The judge paused proceedings upon request by special counsel Jack Smith. The other case, in Florida, saw Trump charged with retaining classified documents and obstructing recovery efforts. The Florida case was dismissed by a Trump-appointed judge, but Smith is appealing this decision. He also asked the 11th U. S. Circuit Court of Appeals to suspend proceedings, which they granted, citing Trump's election.
