A federal appeals court has backed a jury's decision from 2023, upholding a $5 million award for defamation and sexual abuse against former President Donald Trump. The case involves allegations from E. Jean Carroll, a longtime magazine columnist, who claimed Trump attacked her in a department store dressing room in the 1990s. Trump denied the accusations and skipped the initial trial. The appeals court rejected Trump's lawyers' claims that the trial was flawed, including the judge allowing two other women to testify about similar experiences with Trump.

The court also allowed the infamous "Access Hollywood" tape to be shown, where Trump bragged about groping women. The court stated that Trump didn't prove any errors affected his rights. Carroll's lawyer expressed gratitude for the decision.
