COVID-19 Arrives in the US: A Historical Turning Point
Washington State, USAWednesday, January 22, 2025
In 1977, President Jimmy Carter made a significant move by pardoning almost all Vietnam War draft evaders on his first full day in office. And let's not forget 2010, when the U. S. Supreme Court's decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission dramatically shifted the landscape of political campaigns.
Now, back to 2020. A day after Donald Trump's inauguration as the 47th U. S. president, an estimated 3 to 5 million people participated in Women's March demonstrations across the country to support civil rights and protest Trump's policies.
Amidst these significant events, the arrival of COVID-19 in the U. S. on January 21st, 2020, was a pivotal moment. It was a stark reminder that even in a world filled with political upheavals and advancements, nature can still throw us a curveball.
