Craig Melvin Takes Over from Hoda Kotb on 'Today' Show

Veteran NBC host Craig Melvin is set to step into Hoda Kotb's shoes as the co-host of the “Today” show’s 7 a. m. to 9 a. m. segment. Melvin, who is already a familiar face to viewers, currently hosts the third hour of the show and serves as the news anchor during the first two hours. He will continue to co-host the third hour with Al Roker, Dylan Dreyer, and Sheinelle Jones. Libby Leist, senior vice president of “Today, ” praised Melvin's versatility, noting his experience in covering breaking news, presidential interviews, and major events like the Olympics and Super Bowls. Kotb’s last day is set for January 10, and NBC has yet to announce who will replace her in the 10 a. m. slot, which she shares with Jenna Bush Hager.

Melvin expressed his gratitude on air, calling Kotb and Savannah Guthrie “the sisters I never thought I needed. ” He also acknowledged Kotb’s significant role in stabilizing the show after the Matt Lauer scandal. Lindsay Czarniak, Melvin’s wife and a sportscaster, took to Instagram to share her joy, describing the day as a gift to watch her husband achieve his dream.
