Cruise Stars on Paramount Tower as Studio Launches New Era

Hollywood, Los Angeles, USAWednesday, March 11, 2026

Tom Cruise was spotted atop a water tower on the Paramount lot this weekend, sparking curiosity among fans. He was filming parts of a new promotional video for the studio’s fresh start after its recent purchase by David Ellison and Skydance. The video is still a work in progress, so it’s unclear who else will appear or whether it is meant for internal use or a public launch.

The project is directed by Jon M. Chu, known for the latest Wicked movies. Chu recently joined Paramount with a first‑look deal for both film and television projects. His role is to celebrate the studio’s past achievements while looking ahead to its future.

The video comes amid a wave of deals at Paramount. Ellison is eyeing a huge purchase of Warner Bros. Discovery, which would bring massive franchises like DC Comics and Harry Potter into the fold. He has also signed talent agreements with figures such as the Duffer Brothers, Will Smith’s Westbrook, and James Mangold. In addition, he has acquired rights to the UFC and is working with Activision on a Call of Duty film series.

Cruise has long been linked to Paramount through hits like Top Gun and Mission: Impossible. He helped finance recent installments of the franchise with Skydance. After leaving the studio in early 2024 for a partnership with Warner Bros., he returned to Paramount’s orbit as the new era takes shape.

During his busy weekend, Cruise also attended the Saturn Awards on Sunday. He presented a Visionary Award to Christopher McQuarrie and greeted colleagues such as Guillermo del Toro, James Cameron, and Alex Kurtzman. He capped the event with a standing ovation for George Lucas.
