Crypto ATMs: Friend or Foe in Minnesota?
Forest Lake, Minnesota, USATuesday, March 18, 2025
The city has a few options. They could do nothing, create an ordinance to regulate the ATMs, or ban them outright. The proposed ordinance would require a fee for having a crypto ATM, along with cameras and signage to deter fraud. This isn't a small decision, and it's one that the city will be discussing at their next meeting on March 24th.
But should cities be stepping in to regulate crypto ATMs? On one hand, it could protect residents from scams. On the other, it could limit access to a legitimate financial tool. It's a complex issue, and there's no easy answer. What do you think? Should cities be stepping in to regulate crypto ATMs, or should they leave it to the market to sort out?
