Deadly Israeli Strikes in Gaza; Netanyahu's Residence Targeted

Overnight and early Sunday, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza killed scores of people, according to local health officials. Simultaneously, Israeli police arrested three individuals after flares were fired at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home in Caesarea. The Israeli military also advanced further into Lebanon as Hezbollah considers a U. S. -brokered cease-fire that would end a 13-month exchange of fire. In the northern Gaza city of Beit Lahiya, Israeli attacks left at least 100 dead, with many more trapped under rubble. This followed an Israeli strike on Saturday that killed 10 Palestinians and injured at least 20 at a UN-run school in Gaza City. Israeli forces have been moving tens of thousands of people from northern areas of Gaza to target Hamas forces.

Netanyahu and his family were not home when the flares were fired at their residence, which Israeli police reported. The incident has sparked protests in Jerusalem, with demonstrators calling for Netanyahu's resignation and a prisoner swap. Meanwhile, Israeli ground forces reached their deepest point into Lebanon since the invasion began, only to pull back after clashes. Israel’s ongoing aerial bombardment in Lebanon and evacuation orders for certain areas come as they await Hezbollah’s response to a U. S. -proposed cease-fire. The proposed deal includes IDF withdrawal from Lebanon and Hezbollah pulling back north of the Litani River, a stipulation from UN Security Council Resolution 1701. Despite efforts for peace, the situation remains volatile.
