Kidney disease and type 2 diabetes are part of a bigger health risk called cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome. Adults with kidney disease get heart disease risks eight years earlier. Those with diabetes? About a decade sooner. But combine both, and you're looking at a higher heart risk starting at age 42 for women and 35 for men.
