Diego Pacheco’s Road to a Title Fight

Pacheco, who has never lost a fight, decided to step back from title contention after three decision bouts that didn’t showcase his power. He wanted to prove he can finish fights, so he faced Immanuwel Aleem at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson.

The 26‑year‑old landed more than a hundred punches, with 145 of 288 power shots hitting the target. His jab also worked well, connecting 123 times out of 314 attempts. Pacheco’s new trainer, Buddy McGirt, helped him mix body shots and inside uppercuts to wear down Aleem.

Throughout the first ten rounds, Pacheco nearly finished the fight twice, but he let Aleem survive. The damage kept mounting until round eleven when a flurry of punches sent Aleem to the canvas. The referee gave him one more chance, but a final assault forced the stoppage before the end of the round.

With this victory, Pacheco is back on track for a championship shot. His promoter plans to push him toward a title fight by next year, possibly against a top contender or even a big name like Canelo Alvarez. While that goal may be bold, the boxer is moving in the right direction in a crowded division.

Andy Cruz bounced back from his first loss by stopping Abraham Montoya in the third round. The Cuban Olympian, who had recently lost a controversial decision to IBF champion Raymond Muratalla, showed his power by knocking Montoya down at the end of round two and finishing him quickly in round three.
