Different Paths to Success

Success isn't always about doing what's expected. Often, it's about trying new things and finding what works best for you. Take Ron Wanek, for instance. Born into a poor family, he didn't go to college. Instead, he dove into the furniture business. With a loan from his dad, he started Arcadia Furniture and later bought Ashley Furniture, turning it into a global giant. Steven Spielberg was another who went against the grain. He didn't get into USC's film school, but that didn't stop him from becoming one of the greatest directors of all time. And what about Cami Tellez? She left Columbia University to start Parade, a company celebrating all body types with underwear.

For some, success starts with a problem. The founders of Warby Parker, for instance, noticed eyeglasses were too expensive. So, they started an online company selling affordable prescription glasses. Martha Stewart went from modeling to Wall Street before finding her passion in home living. Jonah Peretti, on the other hand, went from teaching to co-founding The Huffington Post and BuzzFeed. Vera Wang even switched from figure skating to fashion at 40, becoming a top designer. These people didn't have it easy at first. They just kept trying different things until they found their path. So, don't be afraid to try new things. You never know where it might lead you.
