Diplomat Data Leak: What We Know
South KoreaTuesday, July 21, 2026
The leaked data covers names, job titles, email addresses and encrypted passwords—nothing as personal as social‑security numbers or home addresses.
The suspected intruder gained entry sometime between April and May last year, keeping the door open until February.
Because the platform also stores training videos, the attack may have affected a wide range of diplomatic personnel.
The ministry has not yet confirmed that every piece of data was compromised, and it still lacks the tools to pinpoint who is behind the hack.
Officials warn that foreign hacker groups could be involved and stress that the incident has national‑security implications.
