Drone Strike Hits Russian Oil Depot: A Closer Look
Oryol, RussiaMonday, December 16, 2024
The governor of Oryol Oblast, Andrey Klychkov, shared on Telegram that 11 drones were intercepted over the region. He also mentioned that the fire at the oil depot was contained, with no reported casualties. The local fire services are working to extinguish the remaining flames.
This isn't the first time Ukraine has targeted Russian energy infrastructure. Just two days prior, a pipeline in Bryansk was attacked, causing a fire. According to Ukraine's military, this pipeline was targeted because it supplies diesel to Russian military transport.
At the same time, Russia continues its large-scale attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. On Friday, Russia launched around 290 missiles and drones, affecting several regions in Ukraine. The country's energy minister, Herman Halushchenko, noted that the energy sector is once again under heavy attack.
