The case claims that Samsung used a copyrighted picture of the singer on the front of cardboard boxes for its television sets. The image in question was taken at a 2024 music festival and belongs entirely to the artist. The complaint was lodged in a federal court in California. Samsung has not spoken on the matter, citing pending litigation. The singer’s legal team has also been quiet after the filing was announced.

Beyond copyright, the suit alleges a violation of publicity rights. The lawyers point to social media posts where fans say they bought the TV because the singer’s picture was on it. One comment read that a fan would purchase the set “just because Dua is on it. ” The artist learned of the alleged misuse in June last year and asked Samsung to stop using her image. The company declined, according to the lawyers. The suit argues that the unauthorized use harms the singer’s brand and creates a false impression that she endorses the products.
