Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans's action-packed Christmas movie, 'Red One', just reached a major milestone at the global box office. Despite initial weekend expectations in the U. S. and Canada, the movie has now crossed the $100M mark worldwide. A big part of this success came from a strong Tuesday performance, where it made $3. 1M, which is close to what Johnson's earlier movie 'Rampage' did on its first Tuesday.

But 'Red One' isn't out of the woods yet. This weekend, it faces tough competition from Universal's 'Wicked Part One' and Paramount's 'Gladiator II'. While 'Wicked' is expected to make a big splash with a potential $130M-$150M opening, 'Red One' is hoping to stay strong and only drop by about 55% in its second weekend. Interestingly, 'Red One' got an A- CinemaScore, which is good news for its future at the box office. It shows that audiences like the movie, even if critics weren't too impressed. Christmas movies used to make a lot more money before streaming services became popular. For example, 'Polar Express' was considered a flop when it first came out, but it ended up making a lot more money over time.
