Eggs Recalled: Salmonella Outbreak Affects Nine States
USA, Annandale, Virginia (Minnesota)Monday, October 7, 2024
The outbreak has hit nine states: California, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin. If you live in one of these states and have any of these eggs, it's best to toss them or return them to the store.
Salmonella can make you feel pretty bad with symptoms like diarrhea that won't go away after three days, a high fever, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and dehydration. These symptoms can last up to a week. Kids under 5, older folks, or people with weak immune systems might get it worse.
If you've handled these eggs, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly and clean any surfaces they touched using hot soapy water or run them through the dishwasher. If you have questions, give your state's health department a call.
