English Only? Trump's Big Move
USAFriday, February 28, 2025
More than 30 states have already made English their official language. For a long time, people in Congress have tried to make English the official language of the US, but they haven't succeeded. Right after Trump became president, the Spanish version of the White House website was taken down. This made some Hispanic groups upset, but the White House said they would bring it back. As of now, it's still not back. Trump also shut down the Spanish version of the website during his first term.
This isn't the first time Trump has tried to make English the official language. In the past, he has talked about it and even tried to make it happen. But, it's important to think about what this means for people who don't speak English. Will they have a hard time getting the help they need? What about people who are learning English? Will this help them or make it harder? These are questions we should think about.
