Living in Iceland has brought about a remarkable transformation in the mental health of a Black woman named Jewells Chambers. After residing in Reykjavik for eight years, she has found solace in the country's nature, history, and culture. Despite the occasional challenges with the weather and limited food options, Chambers has embraced Iceland as her home. Chambers established All Things Iceland, a podcast, YouTube channel, and social media brand, in 2018. However, her deep affection for Iceland began long before her professional advocacy. Upon moving to Iceland with her Icelandic husband, she was welcomed wholeheartedly by his family, who continue to embrace her despite their divorce in 2023. Chambers has experienced similar warmth from Icelandic coworkers and friends, who were more intrigued by her New York roots than her identity. She has felt at ease, as her color was not the primary focus of her identity. Although she acknowledges the existence of racism in Iceland, she has not personally experienced it.
