Europe's TV Networks Bet Big on Norway's New Reality Show 'The Box'

As the new year begins, TV networks across Europe are buzzing about a fresh reality competition show called 'The Box'. Created by Seefood TV, this unique format was first introduced at MIPCOM in Cannes last October. Before it even airs in Norway on TV2, two European countries have already commissioned their own versions. RTL Nederlands and TV2 in Denmark will launch local versions soon, with Denmark's version set to debut later this year. The show has been gaining momentum as networks search for the next big hit like 'Traitors' or 'Destination X'.

Aleksander Herresthal, the creator and producer of 'The Box', expressed excitement about the international interest. He mentioned ongoing discussions with over 20 territories and five more countries where deals have been finalized but are yet to be announced. The show features 12 celebrity contestants who are placed in separate boxes. When the box opens, they must quickly figure out a challenge and work together to stay in the game. Each episode ends with a duel between two contestants. 'The Box' is notable for securing international remakes before its local launch in Norway. This is unusual in today's TV landscape, where networks typically prefer shows with proven track records. Herresthal is proud of bringing this large-scale reality concept to life, emphasizing its strong and original nature.
