Farm Art Showcase Brings Creatives Together

The Coliseum Museum in Oregon is opening its second yearly “Around the Farm” art show on June 6, running until July 18. The display features 35 artists from northern Illinois who have submitted 65 works that honor the region’s farming heritage. The pieces span a range of media: acrylics, mixed‑media mixes, pastels, photographs, oils and watercolors. Names on the roster include Jean Apgar, David Bingman, Alice Blue, Dan Bowman, Jill Browne, Janet Cederlund and many others, each bringing a unique perspective to the theme.

A local judge, Debra Cleary from Dixon, will evaluate the entries. Her background as an artist and art teacher earned her degrees in art education from Northern Illinois University and Eastern Illinois University. Awards will be handed out during a reception on June 12 between 6 and 8 p. m. , accompanied by live music from Cheryl & the Down Home Boys. The event aims to celebrate agriculture’s role in community life while showcasing diverse artistic talent.
