Feeding Frenzy: A Tragic Mistake in the Wild

This is the story of Babaji Daule, a 35-year-old lion handler who lost his life in a freak incident at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Wildlife Park in Nigeria.

According to officials, Daule had agreed to take a group of guests into the lion enclosure after hours to demonstrate the feeding routine. It's unclear if he had permission to do so, but what's evident is that he failed to follow standard procedure. He left the safety gates open and approached the cage to feed the lion without making sure it was secure. The lion, feeling comfortable with Daule's presence, attacked him, biting his neck. Daule died on the spot, and the lion was shot to prevent further mutilation of his body. The park's management expressed condolences to his family and reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of employees, visitors, and animals.
