Finland's Shift on NATO: How the Ukraine War Changed Minds on Twitter
FinlandWednesday, January 22, 2025
Once the invasion happened, something interesting occurred. The left-wing folks who were against NATO started to connect with those who supported it. They might not have agreed on everything, but they found common ground in their disapproval of Russia's actions and their shared democratic values.
On the other hand, the group that was into conspiracy theories stayed pretty separate. They kept their anti-NATO stance and didn't really change their minds, even with the big event happening next door.
This sudden shift shows how an outside threat can bring people together, even if they have different political views. But it also shows that when people believe in conspiracy theories, it can be hard to change their minds, even when something big happens.
