In the heart of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, a remarkable story of community spirit and generosity unfolded at the Rock'n on the River Summer Concert Series. Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire took the stage, literally and figuratively, to present funds collected during the event to Feed a Child Nyre You, a vital program that combats food insecurity among children and families.
The cooperative's bold pledge? To match every donation made that evening, dollar-for-dollar, leaving a lasting impact on the community. Sarah North, CEO/General Manager at Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire, emphasized the significance of this gesture, stating, "The Cooperative is committed to supporting Feed a Child Nyre You, a program that makes a tangible difference in the lives of local children and families."
.feeding futures, not just bellies
The Feed a Child Nyre You program, inspired by the late Jim Nyre, a devoted member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, provides weekend food bags to underprivileged students, bridging the gap between home and school. Jennie Childs, program organizer, beamed with pride as she talked about the program's impact, "By keeping the funds local, we're not only feeding bellies but also fostering a sense of community and hope for a brighter future."
Through their collective efforts, the partners aimed to amplify the program's reach and effectiveness. As the funds were presented, the community's commitment to feeding futures became crystal clear.
