Foods that Sweeten and Grease May Slow Down Psoriasis Healing

Sunday, July 19, 2026
A recent study from Shanghai looked at how what people eat can change the way their psoriasis responds to treatment. Researchers focused on three common habits: drinking tea, sipping sugary drinks, and eating foods high in fat. They found that patients who regularly consumed sweetened beverages or fatty meals had a harder time seeing improvement when they followed their prescribed psoriasis therapy.
Tea, often considered healthy, did not show a strong link to treatment outcomes in this group. The study suggests that the body’s reaction to psoriasis medication can be affected by diet, especially foods and drinks that are high in sugar or fat. If a person with psoriasis wants better results from their treatment plan, cutting back on sugary drinks and greasy foods might help. Doctors may need to discuss diet choices with patients as part of a comprehensive care strategy.
