Ford's Electric Switch: A Charge towards Convenience

Ford is shaking off the uncertainty surrounding electric vehicle adoption with a new initiative called the "Ford Power Promise." The company is offering complimentary home chargers and installation to customers who opt for new EVs. This perk aims to ease the minds of potential customers who are still hesitant to make the switch. One of the main concerns many people have when considering an EV is the lack of charging infrastructure. However, with the Ford Power Promise, customers can rest assured that they'll have a sturdy charger waiting for them when they get home. The company's Level 2 Ford Charge Station Pro is a $1,310 charger that comes with a standard CCS1 connector, and Ford will cover installation costs up to 60 amps of power and 80 feet of wire run. But what about customers who already have a home charger installed? Ford hasn't forgotten about them! Those who opt for an EV but already have a charger will receive a $2,000 cash equivalent.

"We're the only ones doing this," said Becca Anderson, senior director of customer experience at Ford's Model e division. "This means less stress and more convenience for our customers, making their home charging set-up easy." So, what's driving the hesitation among EV buyers? According to market research, it's not range anxiety, but rather the fear of change. Many customers overestimate the amount of range they'll need and worry about the overall cost of ownership. To address these concerns, Ford is offering more than just a free charger. The company will provide 24/7 call and text support for all EV owners, as well as an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty for the battery. And, to dispel the myth that EVs require frequent public charging, Ford is highlighting its Blue Oval Charging Network, which includes partnerships with third-party charging providers and Tesla Superchargers. The company is also ramping up production of Tesla adapters to ensure seamless access to Supercharger networks across the country.
