Forecasting Harvest: AI & XAI Team Up for Climate-Smart Farming

Climate change is messing with our food! With weird weather patterns happening more often, like crazy droughts and floods, crops aren’t growing as well. This makes it tough for farmers and affects everyone's food security. To tackle this, scientists are using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Explainable AI (XAI) to predict how much crops will yield and see how climate change affects farming. They found that temperature is the biggest factor, and rain and nutrients also play a big role.

Using smart models like Decision Tree and Random Forest, they got amazing results, with accuracy scores as high as 92%! But that's not all. They also used AI tools like SHAP and LIME to explain why the models made certain predictions. This helps farmers make better decisions and adapt to climate change. By combining AI predictions with easy-to-understand explanations, this research offers a clear path for farmers and policymakers to deal with climate challenges in agriculture.
