Former Bolivian Leader Evo Morales Claims Car Attacked
BoliviaSunday, October 27, 2024
The government has accused Morales of causing chaos by organizing road blockades that have disrupted food and fuel supplies. They allege that some of his supporters are armed and warned about potential violence, with 14 police officers reportedly injured while trying to clear the blockades.
Morales and Arce, both members of the Movement for Socialism (MAS), have been at odds over the past year. The upcoming 2025 elections have fueled their power struggle, further complicated by Bolivia's economic woes, including declining gas production, depleted foreign reserves, and rising inflation.
Amidst these political battles, Morales faces legal troubles. He has been accused of having relationships with minors and is wanted for questioning by regional prosecutors. Morales denies these allegations.
