Former DC Police Chief Convicted for Aiding Proud Boys
Washington, USAMonday, December 23, 2024
Prosecutors argued that Lamond acted as a "double agent" by warning Tarrio that there was a warrant for his arrest. This was related to the burning of a Black Lives Matter banner during a previous trip to Washington. Tarrio claimed he didn't wish to get arrested but wanted to use his arrest as a publicity stunt.
Former President Donald Trump has promised to pardon some defendants involved in the Jan. 6 attack, but it's uncertain if Tarrio is on the list. Lamond's defense tried to reason that his communications with Tarrio were part of his job, but prosecutors found messages where Lamond expressed support for the Proud Boys even after the attack.
